First of all, shouldn't it be "Dinner for WHOM?" The word 'whom' needs a champion. Moving on, while I do not know the average precipitation for South Hadley, Massachusetts (which I actually just looked up, it's about 3.5" http://www.city-data.com/city/South-Hadley-Massachusetts.html) I do appreciate the bluntness prescribed in this conversational style. When I first meet someone, I do often ask a lot of questions to get to know them rapid-fire (favorite color, movies, book, abridged 30 second life story... GO!!). As for the actual movie "Dinner for One," I am not familiar with it, but I do suppose we have our own American versions of it. For instance, if it is around Xmas time and you have not seen "Miracle on 34th Street" or if one is a gay man and cannot quote "Mean Girls" or "Drop Dead Gorgeous" (the latter of which, if you have not seen, Calder, you'd LOVE it) then one is simply not a member of the acceptable group and you cannot SIT WITH US!! (done in Gretchen Weiners voice)
You should always be able to get a slice of pepperoni on a Sunday night. Communists.
As for Father's day, my background makes this awkward, but still awesome, for me. Both my mother and my now-former step-mother are two of the only people I have ever met who could drink me under the table. They are both whiskey girls and proud of it. My Father, on the other hand, I have seen take two sips of alcohol in my entire life; one at my older sister's wedding (the champagne toast, which I'm pretty sure he begrudgingly swallowed) and one of me 'sprite' (cough, gin and tonic, cough) on a cruise he, my younger sister, step mother and I went on shortly after my sister graduated high school (she gets a cruise, I got a watch... whatever, I'm not bitter...) which he promptly spat out. Ergo, the concept of father's drunkenly passed out in their own sick is an unfamiliar sight to see, but one I approve of in concept.
