AMD 5
for this AMD i'm pretty much killing two birds with one stone (which is a really morbid idiom if you think about it) by writing on the work for another class that i'm in as well. It's history 417, 20th century german and european thought, and we are currently reading someone who is quickly becoming one of my favorite philosophers, ludwig wittgenstein. the advantage of the translation is that we have the original german side by side with the english. our professor has told us that he can read wittgenstein's austrian-ness in his wrtiting, meaning that it must be peppered with colloquialisms, but even given that, having the translations there is helping me immensely. words that i will need to know in an academic setting are coming to light, things like 'signify' (bezeichnen), 'expression' (ausdruck) etc are all right there for me to see in highlighted black and white
