Day - Kultur 9

I think these articles were pretty ridiculous, except  Bureaucracy Gone Awry just seemed like a nit-picking nightmare.  Then after reading Love Thy Neighbor, just thinking that you might be restricted from barbequeing more than one time per month, would make me not want to live there.  Realistically, I doubt that that its very common anyone strictly enforces that and its more of just an exaggeration.

But I did agree with the bit about car washing at home.  If what they were saying is accurate, I think it shows a lot of integrity in the environmental system they have.  Going to the extremes in terms of environmental protection can be a good thing as it gets the point across and Germany's environmental policies are what the United States' should emulate.

However, I thought Germany's Patriotism Problem was a little bit more stern.  I think the reason Germany is so introverted about national pride is that the holocaust was fairly recent.  Most other large scale tragedies are more forgotten.
