I found the information on the Brüder Grimm to be interesting, though it should mention that a good number of the tales came from upper-middle class women and friends of the Brüder from Huguenot France.
As for Karneval, this reminds me of Carnival in France and Fetter Donnerstag/Altweiberastnacht puts me in mind of Mardi Gras celebration in New Orleans each February.
Die Schweiz seems like ein wunderbar place to live, though the mix of languages could become confusing. I have never even heard of Rhaeto-Romanic. The independence that die Schweiz maintains is something that I greatly admire.
