Kultur 11-Uchechi Ogbenna

The article "Breaking Down the Wall in the Head" was pretty interesting. I was surprised that some people from the East and West parts of Germany still want to be separated. I thought that the reunification of these sides represented unity and peace and that they could live together now that there are barely any remains of the wall.  However, this is not the case for some; there are some people living in Germany who wish that the wall still existed. After I read this article, I thought that it made sense for some people to have reservations on the idea of reunification because there are some who have lived most of their lives with the existence of the Berlin Wall. this presents the psychological wall in their head because they may have been used to the way of life when the wall was up as opposed to it no longer existing.

I thought that the article "Backward Southerners, Frigid Northerners: Germany's Real Divide" was also interesting in the concept of a division between north and south Germany. I thought that this article was similar to the article of the East and West Germany division because of the stereotypes each side gives the other. I also thought that it was interesting that the article mentioned if the wall was between North and South Germany, the wall would have still been up. It was pretty interesting to see how this separation could cause such a divide.

The article, " In Berlin, You Never Have To Stop" was entertaining. I thought that it was pretty funny that beer was cheaper than water and how living there induced a lifestyle contrary to the purpose the writer had in mind when coming there in the first place. I also thought what the writer took away from the trip (rolling a joint properly, cutting hair, drinking whiskey without gagging and a book of his experience in Berling) was funny.
