For my AMD 6 I watched the film Das Sams as the puppet show did not work on my laptop for some reason. First, the Sams in the movie was seriously gross. I think it was a woman playing the role but I'm not sure. Anyway, it was fairly close to the book in the beginning. Later in the movie things start to deviate from the book. For instance, Herr T's boss doesn't lose his key and Herr T also has a love interest...go figure. Another part of the movie that I didn't particularly like was the fact that the Sams wasn't as witty as he is in the book. It's more obnoxious than anything. Also, Frau R is super annoying. I got the impression from the book that she was somewhat oblivious in her curiosity.
On a more language based note, hearing the story/dialogue while seeing the story play out was helpful in comprehending the story. I frequently heard the things we've talked about in class and I think that if the movie's dialogue was slower I'd understand most of it. Also, seeing the movie helped with most of the questions I had during the reading of the book as in how certain characters reacted to certain things the Sams did or said.
I watched a little more of this movie than I would like to admit. It was interesting, especially to those who walked by me in the League wondering what I was watching.
