Kapitel 10 Kultur-Texte-Uchechi Ogbenna

The first article that I read was "Dinner For Who? Germany's New Year "Procedure". I thought that the film was pretty silly. Given that the film is a classic in Germany and its tradition, I am not surprised that it is watched every New Year. It is similar to how we watch classics such as A Christmas Story during Christmas. I can only imagine being interrogated in Germany about Dinner For Who, well at least I will be prepared for any questions.

I also read the article "Sorry, We're Closed: The Challenge of Spending Money in Germany". I thought that the restrictions for when stores are open was pretty strict. I have actually ran into situations where I would need to go to a store and it would be closed or I would have to rush there because they closed early. The article even points out that the restrictions for the hours of operation for stores does not only stop on Sundays. I thought this was pretty harsh. Many people may only have until the later part of the day to do their shopping. I guess the strict opening hours would work for the employees because they would get out of work earlier.

I have also read  "Booze Brothers" Father's Day Debauchery in Deutschland". I thought that this article was also interesting. I can only imagine intoxicated men parading the streets of Germany on Father's Day. I guess a pack of beer beats any other Father's Day present or gathering. If I were in Germany, I would definitely be watching this from my balcony clear from harm at my home, enjoying the view (of drunk people in their natural habitat).
